As your skin tone changes from seasons to seasons, so you should regularly re-assess your lipstick as well as your foundations shade. Lipsticks that work best are those that have some of your skin's natural tones in their color such as a blue-pinks or yellow- browns.

Lipstick provides the final touch to your makeup; without it no look is complete.

You need a narrow, flat ended brush, a selection of finely sharpened lip pencils, lip gloss and lipstick (either the conventional tube lipstick or the cream type with a sponge-tip applicator. Before heading for lip make-up, study the shape of your lips, identify the defects, if any, and decide on what you want to achieve and then proceed.

1. Apply emollient balm before putting the color. This is will hydrate your lips and make an even tone.

2. With a short and light strokes. Use a neutral colored pencil to trace around the perimeter of your lips. After it is done you can use desired color pencil you want to fill in your entire mouth.

3. To increase the size of your lips use a matching gloss or high shine lipstick. Apply the gloss or lipstick with a lip brush to make sure that color is evenly distributed.

4. To prevent bleeding dab a translucent powder around the edges of your lips.

For your Lip Colors:

The best lipstick to use for our lips depends, again, on the tone of our skin. You may also want to pick a lipstick for daytime use and another one for nighttime use. To further define the lips, apply a lip liner that matches the color of your lipstick. Lip liners also help keep the color of the lips from bleeding. Another tip to try is to use a lip brush instead of applying the lipstick directly on the lips. This would keep the lipstick from smearing and the color from bleeding as well.

Fair-skinned women would look great with lips touched with pinks, peaches and mauves.

Lipsticks with gold, pink with a touch of gold, peach and light to medium brown best complement olive-skinned women.

Dark-skinned women should go for lipsticks shaded bronze, medium browns, brick browns, berries and burgundy.
