How to create the illusion of fuller lips

Full lips seem to be very in vogue these days, which can be unfortunate for those of us "blessed" with thin lips. Surgery and lip injections are available options, but if you don't want to do anything quite that extreme there are some ways to fake the appearance of full lips.

Step One

The first thing you need to do to create the illusion of fuller lips is to protect your lips from the sun. Apply a lip balm with SPF every morning before you go outdoors, and carry it with you to reapply regularly or every time your lips feel dry.

Step Two

Before you go to bed at night, use a soft toothbrush to gently exfoliate your lips if they are flaky or peeling. Afterwards, apply more lip balm to moisturize your lips as you sleep.

Step Three

Use a light lip liner, just slightly darker then you're own lip color. Make sure that the lip liner is a firm pencil type, any sort of creamy liner will smear too easily. Line your lips just outside of the natural lip line, as if you are tracing around them but still touching the natural lip line. Do NOT draw outside of your lip line, it will look obvious and everyone will know.

Step Four

Fill in your lips with a lipstick matching the lip liner or just slightly lighter. Pale lip colors will help with the illusion of fuller lips. Dark lip colors will make your lips look smaller.

Step Five

Use lip gloss, and reapply it often to keep your lips shiny as that will draw people's eyes to your lips and make them appear more prominent and fuller.
