How to Heal, Cure and Clean a Busted Lip
A busted lip can be a problem for some people. Learn the basic first aid techniques to curing a broken lip.
A broken or busted lip is a common predicament that folks will find themselves in at one point or another. Whether it was caused by a fall or someone knocking your lights out doesn't really matter, as the outcome is the same, you have a messed up lip to deal with. It's quite unfortunate I'm sure, but a little first aid will actually cure it up quite a bit.
Let's clean out that wound first. The last thing we want at this point is some sort of an infection that would only exaggerate the problems. Using mouthwash such as Listerine would work wonders, or you could also use some home made saltwater or good ole' fashion alcohol for the same affect. The key here is swishing the material around the cut or wound to help get rid of any bacteria. If the cut is on the outside portion of the lip than a little Neosporin will do the job.
Next we need to try and control the swelling; this is where a majority of the pain will be felt from. Immediately get something cold on the wound. Preferably ice but anything in the freezer will due actually. Place the cold substance on the lip for about 10 minutes and then take it off for another 10 minutes. Alternate the temperature for about an hour and the swelling will certainly be less than it would have. Also, you can try using a little ibuprofen as it too helps control the swelling.
Now you should be fully capable of taking care of a busted lip. Hopefully, the occasion that you'll have to use this knowledge doesn't arise too often.
