keep animals out of your trash cans

If you are tired of seeing your trash cans dumped over, or trash scattered about, then try some of these tips to prevent animals from getting into your trash.

Black pepper - Sprinkle a coat of black pepper all around your trash cans. The smell is strong to us and even stronger to most animals like squirrels, dogs, raccoons,cats, etc. Doing this keeps them away and does not harm them at all. They just get a whiff of the pepper and head to someone elses trash cans.


Clorox bleach - Spray some bleach on the top of your trash. The best and easiest way to do this is to put some into a spray bottle and clearly write on it bleach,so no one in your house grabs it by accident. Then spray some of the top of your trash at night. The smell will help to mask the smell of any food that attracts the animals.

Ammonia - Sprinkle some ammonia around your trash cans.The smell will fed of ll animals from getting into your trash cans again without harming them. They will get a whiff and take off.

WD-40 - Spray a coat of WD-40 on top of the trash cans to keep animals away. Just a think film will do, you don't want to make a big mess!

Windex - Spray Windex on top of your trash when it place it onto the garbage can. This works the same way ammonia does, since most formulas of Windex contains ammonia. Just in case you do not have straight ammonia,everyone usually has Windex! It works great at repelling animals form getting into your trash!

Once you try one of these tricks animals shall not mess with your trash any longer!
