Celebrating New Year's Eve in Fort Lauderdale
This article looks at where to celebrate New Year's Eve in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire with snow falling on the ground outside may be fine for some, but little beats the warm and inviting weather of a New Year Eve's celebration in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Historically, the welcome temperature averages between a low of 62 degrees and a high of 76 degrees. Now that's my kind of roasting - non-existent!
Holiday celebrants can make use of that terrific weather as they party New Year's Eve away. Several areas are known for being great party spots where you can sing Auld Lang Syne with new friends and old friends alike. Just a fingernail's breath from the railroad tracks, on SE Second Street, the Himmarshee area has the largest assortment of bars and dance clubs. As I've heard people say, it's one great big, huge honkin' outdoor cocktail party. Now who can argue with that kind of recommendation?
If you prefer something not quite so big, try the Hollywood area, which still has about 70 nightclubs to kiss in the New Year at. That's more than enough to find something that suits your individual taste, or you could see just how many clubs you can visit in one night on this New Year's Eve. That would surely be an Olympic competition of its own.
Of course, not all of us are spry party types, and that's where a place like the Blue Martini comes in. Located at The Galleria, this renown location has a more relaxing atmosphere, where you can sit inside or outside, sipping your drink as you welcome in the new year. There's dancing, live music, and all kinds of party foods and drinks to be enjoyed.
Who says New York is the place to watch the ball drop? Not Fort Lauderdale, which annually hosts the fantastic New Year's Eve Downtown Countdown on SW Second Street. This is an event for the entire family and even includes an early countdown for children who can't stay up that late. Live entertainment punches in the New Year. As midnight strikes, the Fort Lauderdale ball, already lit from the children's celebration, drops from sky as the New Year becomes official.
Whether you want to party hardy, enjoy the night with just that special someone, or make it a family affair, Fort Lauderdale is the place to be for this year's New Year's Eve celebration!
