Sharona Is Guest Starring For Monk’s Final Season
Bitty Schram is returning to the USA series Monk for a guest appearance!
Fans of the USA Network hit detective series Monk will be glad to know that Bitty Schram is making a guest appearance for the show’s eighth and final season. Schram played Sharona Flemming, the no-nonsense nurse for Tony Shalhoub’s obsessive compulsive detective Adrian Monk for two and a half seasons before she was abruptly written out of the series. Her character’s sudden departure was explained in an episode in which Sharona was said to have remarried her ex-husband and moved to away.
Schram, an excellent comedic actress, was an integral part of the show’s success and has been deeply missed by much of the fan base. Her replacement, Traylor Howard as Monk’s assistant Natalie Teeger, has become very popular in her own right, and the show itself has remained a network favorite throughout its run. However, most fans would probably agree that Sharona’s sudden disappearance left some loose ends that could be satisfactorily tied up with her brief return.
The eighth and final season of Monk will begin in the summer of 2009 with a run of 16 brand new episodes. No details have been released yet regarding the circumstances under which Schram’s character will be reunited with her old boss. However, fans of the show can check for the latest news on Schram’s appearance, as well as lots of other information about the show at the network website: http://www.usanetwork.com/series/monk/
In the meantime, fans of Schram who are unfamiliar with her other film and television work might check out her performance in Penny Marshall’s 1992 hit film A League of Their Own. Schram stars as Evelyn, the mother who joins the baseball team and ends up crying in front of her gruff manager (Tom Hanks) during a game.
