THE WONDER OF OUR WILD BIRD KINGDOM NEED OUR HELP

WILD BIRDS

It is said that we are losing a millions of our birds to loss of habitat, pesticides, global warming, and so on.  Have you noticed that the common sparrow is not so common any more, the cuckoo is a rarity too see and there are countless other birds that are getting so rare they are boarding on the edge of extinction. So it is up to all of us, I think you’ll agree, to do our bit. I don’t mean spending lots of money or changing your life to suit the bird in any great way. Because I believe the little things we do on a day to day or even week to week basis have the greater impact on our society and hopely will help our birds. I’m talking about simple things that young children and older people can do easily. If you have a bird table great, if not a wall, a little table or a low limb of a tree will do. If you have none of these things then use the ground.  For instance when you have a hair cut save some of the hair by putting it in a bag. When you get home find a little pot, one that’s quite heavy would be best, but if you can’t find one it does not matter. Any little pot will do  put a little of the hair  and any biodegradable small things such as torn up clean tissue paper, wool, This will help birds who are making a nest.

When you have your meals if you of your family have any left over’s like bread, cereal, cake and so on. Just put it on your bird table or whatever you are using. If you really are in to helping the birds why not buy some wild bird seed. But please remember not to put too much food out at any one time. Just enough for the birds that day or you will run the risk of attracting rats. Try not to use slug pellets in your garden as birds will pick them up and are poisoned. Especially put out food in cold and icy and snowy weather as when the ground is iced over birds cannot brake through the ice to get food. I can’t imagine a world without birds cans you?
