An introductorial tutorial on Using Photoshop to make a miniature version of a car.

Heres a Photoshop tutorial on How to make a Mini Car.

The first step is to get an image of a car. I suggest you use a "side view" of a car as it is much easier to make into a mini car. In later Photoshop tutorials I will show how to make a mini car regardless of the angle the car is at but for now lets just keep it as simple as possible.

If you do not have an image of a car you can use free stock photos. This image of a Merceded Benz is from http://www.sxc.hu/photo/1167680

After you have saved the image of the car open it up in photoshop.

Now using your "lasso tool" draw around the front wheel well. It does not have to be exact. In fact I want you to draw around it larger then we will need. We will be able to tidy it uop later. After you have "lassoed" in the front wheel area copy it and then paste your newly lassoed wheel area back into the image. This will create a new "layer".

Go to you layers menu and click back on the original image. With the original image of the car go ahead and repeat the "lasso" of the rear tire area. Make sure you copy and then paste then rear wheel area you just lassoed.

Go to your "layers" menu and make sure the original image of the car is highlighted. Now that you are working back on the original layer click on your "move tool" and then click on the image. Now you will see the 4 little squares at each corner. Click on the bottom right hand squares and then continuing to hold down the left mouse button drag the image to the left. You will see it your image shrink up. Drag it anywhere from 30-50 percent of the original width. DO NOT ADJUST THE HEIGHT OF THE IMAGE, only the width.

Now you will see a short version of the car. Click on the layer for the front tire area that you copy and pasted earlier. Drag the front tire area over towards the front of the car and line it up. Now click on the rear tire layer that you copy and pasted earlier and drag it over the rear of the car.

When you get the tires lined up to look pretty good then click on your eraser tool. Click on the front tire layer and you can erase any excess fender. Repeat for the rear tire area also. If you erase too much you can always  go to "edit"---"undo last move".

Their are many advanced ways of makng mini cars but this will give you the basics. Go ahead and continue practicing and remember, the more you play with Photoshop the more you will learn.
