With America’s obesity rate higher than ever, many people are looking for ways to shed those unwanted pounds. For many, the only way to do this is the all natural way, no prescriptions or miracle diets.
The most important thing to remember when trying to lose weight is that you have to burn more calories than you take in. What does this mean? It means you should have some type of exercise plan. It can be a simple plan, such as walking each evening, dancing or going to the gym a few times a week; whatever fits into your daily routine.
Not exercising while losing weight can reduce muscle mass. Also, muscle burns calories much faster! Just another incentive to exercise!
There is no need to go out and buy expensive food that promises to help you lose weight. All you need to do is look at the calories per serving, fat content and calories from fat. All the pre-packaged food is already counted, something consumers can do themselves and save money on top of it.
Eat foods that are naturally more filling, foods that contain fiber are excellent fillers and they are lower in calories and good for you. Whole wheat bread and cereal are also good choices. Another great way to feel full before you sit down to eat is to drink an eight ounce glass of water; this is a natural filler that will control your appetite.
If you are serious about losing weight, be sure to keep track of your progress. Write down your starting weight and weigh first thing in the morning. Don’t weigh yourself everyday, your weight will fluctuate daily, it is best to choose a day and weigh yourself each week at the same time, if possible.
Eat smaller meals through out the day. Your metabolism will stay at a higher rate and you will not feel hungry. Another natural weight loss trick is to eat your food slowly. Don’t be in a hurry.
Don’t fall for the “Miracle weight loss” gimmicks you see on infomercials. They simply don’t work, and can be bad for you in the long run. The only real way to lose weight is to watch your intake of food and exercise.
Don’t feel guilty if you “fall off the wagon” every now and then. Just get right back to work. If you feel the need for some chocolate or other food that is not on your diet, it is not off limits, just control how much you consume.
One of the most important tips on losing weight is not to do it for anyone but yourself! Losing weight and keeping it off is a life change. Don’t look at it as a diet.
