A guide to how a bra should fit.

Did you know that 80% of women in the UK are wearing a bra that is the wrongs size?

So many people complain that their underwired bras are uncomfortable, if this is they case, then it doesn’t fit, if a bra fits properly, you should forget you have it on!

Ill-fitting bras can have a significant impact on the appearance and health of your breasts, they can make breasts look smaller, bigger, an odd shape, it can even look as if you have four breasts!

Not only that but if they are not properly supported, the muscles in the breasts can become damaged resulting in sagging breasts and severe back pain.

I would strongly recommend that you get your bra fitted by a professional, you will only need to do this once to establish what size you are and how your bra should fit and feel.

Here is a guide to help you see if you are wearing a bra that is the right size:

Your breasts should fill the cup of the bra without spilling over the top or out of the sides.

The cups should touch your breasts, there should be no gaps.

Look in the mirror at your arms, if there is a bulge where your bra strap is, it is not right.

Most people think that the support of a bra is supposed to come from the straps, it isn’t, most of the support is supposed to come from the band and the cups/underwires.

The band should be tight around your ribcage, there should be no gaps, the band should be in contact with the skin all the way round.

The band should be tight, but not painful, you should not be able to put your fingers under it easily.

The front of the bra where the underwires meet should be pressed firmly against your chest, it should not lean forward.

The straps should be firmly against your skin, they should not slip down at all.

The underwires should be firmly underneath your breasts, when you raise your arms or move around, they should not ride up.

The underwire should be underneath the whole breast, none of it should be left unsupported.
